THE ARRIVAL OF THE PHOENICIAN The phoenician, navigators and traders from Lebanon, founded Palermo in the 10th century A.D.(before Christ) upon their arrival they found a fertile valley grossed by two rivers the Kemonia, and the Papireto. Due to its strategic position they decided to etablish a port-city namimg it ”zyz”(flower). This marked the birth of the trading port in the heart of the Mediterranean sea.
